Happy 4th!

So tomorrow, I begin my long journey westward to my new home in San Mateo, CA and my new job in Menlo Park. Today is sad for me, because everything is winding down, and I am leaving my home in Maryland once again. My awesome friends here threw a big goodbye party for me, with Rock Band and Smash Bros. and some darn good food and drink. Today my parents had a big BBQ - we ate steak and played with the dogs. The party last night kept me up very late, and looming storm clouds convinced us to stay in rather than journey downtown to see fireworks. But we had an excellent Australian Shiraz to go with the televised display, and with all the feelings and my energy level, it was a nice way to spend the 4th.

Tomorrow will be sad in the morning, but I expect it will be exciting and adventurous by afternoon. My super-cool sister is helping me with the 3 to 4 day drive out to northern California, and I think once we get on the road I will be ecstatic and impatient about the new life I'm to build out there.

Perhaps more retrospective later - for now, I must get music for the road ahead. Peace and best wishes, friends.

On Skiing

Skiing this week was good. There was only one time I really got out of control - fortunately, I managed to stop myself by using my face.

Pics to come.

MFM Things

Pictures!

Last weekend I went to Mephit Furmeet again. Four years in Indiana, four trips to Memphis for a convention celebrating my most unusual hobby. I wouldn't say time flew by, exactly, but it's crazy to think I've been pulling these oddball convention stunts for that long. Anyway, the trip was a total blast - I got to meet some cool new people, play some super-fun LAN games, and take lots of interesting pictures with my shiny new Canon Rebel XT.

I think my photography has improved vastly since last year, considering I had 250 viable photos from this year's con, as opposed to 17 from last year's. Of course quantity isn't quality, but the fact is I probably had roughly equal numbers of photos taken at the con, and this time most of them came out well enough that I feel I can post them online, as opposed to last time where most of them were too blurry, discolored, or generally craptastic for me to feel comfortable showing them to others. The year before I hadn't gotten my Nikon Coolpix yet, and only my Freshmen year did I make the mistake of using disposable cameras (limited shooting, horrible color, expensive development). So I think this year I'm really doing better, and that's exciting.

And to all the cool people I met, a grand hello, and I hope to maintain contact. Feel free to email me any time.

Cabo Things

My pictures from Cabo San Lucas are up. All 129 of them, for the time being. I took exactly 1,000 pictures while I was down there, and a quick run through made me select these as the most awesome.

Today the State, tomorrow, the WORLD!

Today I am leaving Purdue's beautiful campus. Tomorrow I'm leaving the country. I will be going to Los Cabos, Mexico. I may or may not have internet access there - if I do, I will be posting lots of stuff to my flickr. If you've subscribed to my new feed, they'll pop up there.

Everybody approaching Spring Break - have a good one!

Merry New Year!

It has become a sort of tradition for me to be out of communication during holidays. Generally I try to spend all my time with my family (and with my boyfriend, this time) when I'm home. However, the cause of my non-resposiveness to the four text messages and three voicemails from friends on Christmas was due to other things. Mostly, my cell phone was turned off from being at the movies the night previous, and by the time I got all the messages I didn't have time to answer them all.

But here I shall take the time to say thanks for calling, and I love you all!

While I'm at it, I shall wish all my readers (you happy bunch) a Merry New Year, in addition to a belated ChrismaHannuKwaanziYule. I'll probably post again on the 1st with New Year's resolutions and the like.

If anyone's wondering, yes, I did get an Xbox 360 -- and yes, it does rule. My gamertag (if I buy Xbox Live Gold at some point - and Gears of War might lead me there) is Agiusmage.

Best Wishes!

An Update

Calculus final turned out well - I got the expected C in that class. I have switched to the new blogger beta.

I have been home on winter break, and life has been sweet. I brought JT home, and he has been (as usual) sweet. Taking lots of sweet pictures that I will post when I have Picasa back (sorry, but iPhoto doesn't win). I will be opening presents in about six hours. Sweet.

Merry Christmas to All!
